About Alex
I married my college sweetheart in 2012. We have a nine-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son. I am a small business man who loves a challenge. I am a local beekeeper and volunteer firefighter. My friends call me Mr. Fix It.
I am a lifelong native of Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina, having grown up on the Landrum line and only briefly moving off to college at Clemson before returning home.
My father passed away in 1993, and my mother left my brother and me when I was 15, leaving us to fend for ourselves in high school. God brought people into my life to teach me the skills I have today and used every circumstance to build character in my life. There were difficult times, but I wouldn't change anything.
I am a loyal fighter — in fact, my name means "Defender of Men." I have a servant's heart. I have volunteered with Christmas in Action, Charleston outreach, my local fire department, Boy Scouts, and my church. I am a Deacon, an Eagle Scout, and a self-employed businessman.
Please give me the opportunity to defend our community. I will not let you down.
"I am running so that my children can grow up in a thriving community. I prayed for God to send someone to make a change. Then during one of my study times, God convicted me that I have stood by too long. Take action."
My God-given bent is solving technical problems and repairs. I am not a career politician. I simply feel God smile when things get fixed. I believe with a long-range plan from the leadership of county council, we will fix our growth pains.
The Platform
Our roads are in disrepair, infrastructure needs upgrades, and there is no real long-term plan. There are state standards that roads must meet, and many subdivisions are in need of upgrades. Instead of throwing money at the worst roads, let's create a reoccurring maintenance plan — a 5, 10, and 50-year rotation through scheduled preventive maintenance. Better planning means better roads for everyone.
PILOTs are being abused to give our infrastructure resources to large companies that compete with local businesses at unfairly discounted tax rates. Forty-year sweetheart deals shift the tax burden onto small businesses and homeowners. Data centers and large corporations get these deals while our neighbors pay the price. PILOTs must be reevaluated.
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness — by less waste. As a family man, an Eagle Scout, a Deacon, and a volunteer firefighter, I have lived my values every day for decades. I believe in personal responsibility, fiscal discipline, and putting our community first.
Our county council needs honest, transparent leadership. I am not a career politician — I am a problem solver. What separates me is a lifetime of overcoming adversity, years of volunteer service, and a technical expertise that can fix what's broken. I will bring that same Mr. Fix It approach to county government.
